Central Oxford

Located in the characterful district of Jericho, this traditional masonry terraced property sits within one of Oxford’s designated conservation areas where careful, considered engineering is essential to protect both structural integrity and historic value.

Nova was appointed to provide structural design and a detailed report to support a series of proposed alterations to the property. Central to the scheme was the formation of a new opening within the existing spine wall, requiring a precise understanding of load paths and the behaviour of the original masonry structure.

In addition to the internal alterations, sympathetic remedial works to the roof were undertaken to facilitate the introduction of modern insulation while preserving the building’s character. This included the careful replacement of deteriorating timber wall plates and sections of compromised rafters, ensuring the roof structure could perform reliably for years to come.
