Thoughtful Transformation
The property, a traditional semi-detached home, has been thoughtfully transformed with a single-storey wraparound extension designed to create a bright and spacious open-plan living area to the rear, alongside new utility and WC facilities.
A key aspect of the project involved significant internal structural alterations to open up the existing layout and maximise the connection between the original house and the new extension. To achieve the seamless open-plan space envisioned by the homeowners, the existing rear façade wall required substantial structural intervention.
NOVA provided a bespoke structural design solution that carefully balanced performance with practicality. Particular attention was given to minimising the depth of the supporting structure, allowing it to be accommodated within the floor zone. This approach eliminated the need for intrusive downstand beams, resulting in clean lines throughout the interior and helping to preserve the contemporary, open feel of the new living space.
The completed extension has dramatically enhanced both the functionality and flow of the home, creating a versatile family space filled with natural light and offering a strong connection to the garden beyond.
